Welcome to My Blog!

Being a teacher is full of ups, downs, and in betweens. I love the look on a students face when they learn how to read. I love when students can solve problems on their own. I absolutely love when students feel proud of their work, and want to share it with the class. This blog is going to be full of moments in the classroom, pictures, and sometimes videos. Take everything with a grain of salt, as it is my opinion & reflections.

Shadows by the Kids

Well, I ordered new digital cameras for the class (3 total) and the kids are absolutely loving the fact that they get to use it to take pictures! I love it too...I think it's a great way to increase learning and expression. Today in Science we were learning about SHADOWS. I took the kids outside to search for shadows, and allowed them to take pictures of shadows they saw--- I loved the outcome. Enjoy!

Skyping with Canada

Wow! It was really neat to SKYPE with Canada! Before we Skyped, we came up with some questions we had for the students in Canada. The final 2 questions were: How do they do the pledge there, and What is the weather like? They told us that they don't salute a flag, however they sing their Canadian National Anthem every morning. We said the Pledge of Allegiance to them, and then they sang their national song to us! How neat! I recorded a little bit of them singing their national anthem to us. It was SO cool!

Publishing Party

We had a jam-packed day on Friday. It was so unbelievable to watch these 1st graders get up in front of the room and read the favorite part of their story with such confidence. I was very proud of them. After they sat in the Author's Chair, read their story, and received their official Author's certificate-they got to enjoy yummy "Author's Cake." Enjoy the pictures!
