Welcome to My Blog!

Being a teacher is full of ups, downs, and in betweens. I love the look on a students face when they learn how to read. I love when students can solve problems on their own. I absolutely love when students feel proud of their work, and want to share it with the class. This blog is going to be full of moments in the classroom, pictures, and sometimes videos. Take everything with a grain of salt, as it is my opinion & reflections.

Back, and Loving Poetry!

I just introduced poetry to the 1st graders. We have done a lot of poetry so far this year, and love reading it...but now we are going to be the actual writers of the poetry! I was stressing today about having the kids loook at regular ordinary things, and seeing those ordinary things with FRESH NEW EYES...like for example, looking at the regular old ceiling, and seeing the "sky for the classroom," and so on. So awesome. I took the kids on a poetry-walk, sat down on the grass, and jotted down notes about regular things, while looking at them with fresh new eyes! It was a lot of fun. I think the kids favorite part about poetry just might be the brand-new (used and donated) poetry binders.
