Welcome to My Blog!

Being a teacher is full of ups, downs, and in betweens. I love the look on a students face when they learn how to read. I love when students can solve problems on their own. I absolutely love when students feel proud of their work, and want to share it with the class. This blog is going to be full of moments in the classroom, pictures, and sometimes videos. Take everything with a grain of salt, as it is my opinion & reflections.

The students have officially become PHOTOGRAPHERS wanting to take pictures all the time....so at recess they are taking all sorts of photos. They are full of posing ideas, and crazy thoughts for photos! Conducting Interviews!

I partnered some kids together for a challenge. They were to select a teacher, brainstorm questions, and conduct an interview using the camera, and a notebook to record their answers. Then, I showed them how to create a movie/slideshow out of it. They did PHENOMENAL! Here is a preview of two of them:

Easter Wishes, and Newsletter

I wish you all such a wonderful Easter, full of memories, joy, and time with your family. We had such a busy day today! Thank you Ms. Harper, the Negron's, and my Mom we had some sweet treats today! What a fun afternoon, sugar-filled, and time to chat with our peers! It's always neat when you give the students a little time to "chat," watching them interact and try their hardest to be "ladies," and "gentlemen" in their actions, and words. Although, I am looking forward to the long weekend... it's been another fun day in 1st grade, and another day that I LOVE MY JOB!

Spring Poetry/Art Journaling

Easter is just around the corner, and the sugar rush of jellybeans, and robins eggs is in the air! What a day, we had! We created poetry having to do with SPRING...what it tastes like, what it looks like, what it smells like, and what it feels like, using a graphic organizer. Then, we created a symmetrical background, traced over it in pastel, and painted over it with water-colors. Finally, we typed up our poems, printed the poetry, and glued the poetry onto the backgrounds we painted. Boy, they turned out stunning! Just might be one of my favorite art projects all year....
