Welcome to My Blog!

Being a teacher is full of ups, downs, and in betweens. I love the look on a students face when they learn how to read. I love when students can solve problems on their own. I absolutely love when students feel proud of their work, and want to share it with the class. This blog is going to be full of moments in the classroom, pictures, and sometimes videos. Take everything with a grain of salt, as it is my opinion & reflections.

Summer Weekly Assignment 1

Hello Seconds! Good morning, or good afternoon. Each entry I do will be once a week, and will have a series of things for you to do. If possible, have your  Mom or Dad or Grandparent buy you a composition notebook from the store, so that all of your summer work can be stored in one notebook, to show me at open house.

*Parents you can have your child do this all in one day (which is A LOT)-- or you can stretch it through out the week*

*Set your page up with your name and date on the right hand side of your paper*

1. Say our Daily Poem:

I am a kind, smart, and wonderful person.
I am a loving, thoughtful, almost 2nd grader.
I am going to do awesome things with my life.
I am a rockstar.
I am...

2. Read these words as fast as you can:
over
new
short
shortly
sound
take
only
picture
another
dead
deadly
does
end
put
sink
skunk
smell
smelled
smelly

*Remember the "ly" sound at the end of the word.*

3. Get out a notebook, and write or type three sentences. Pick three different words from the list of words above. I want the sentences to be strong, and detailed.

4. After you have written the sentences, practice reading them in a funny voice or like you are putting on a show.

5. Solve these Math problems, and show your work:

A) On Monday I saw 12 Robins. On Tuesday I saw 3 Robins. On Friday I saw 4 Robins. How many Robins did I see altogether?

B) Your 8 friends all have two-wheeled bicycles. How many wheels do they have altogether? (Hint, you will need to draw a quick sketch.)

C) I have 4 pizzas. I ate two of the pizzas. What is the fraction of pizzas I ate? (Draw a picture, and shade what you ate.)

6. Find one "living thing" outside, and write 6 sentences about it. I expect all sentences to be written properly, and neatly. Don't forget about your opener, and closer.

7. I will blog again next week. I hope you are all reading and doing your VERY best to make good choices in all you do. Whatever you do, know that I love you and am SO PROUD of you for doing this.

Love,
Mrs. Ramirez

Camp-In

We camped in the classroom today! We told flashlight stories, shadow stories, and ate s'mores and hotdogs! We also went on a trail nature walk, and completed a scavenger hunt. Enjoy the photos!

Happy Mother's Day!

We drew portraits of our Moms, and then we reflected and thought about a few words that described our special Moms. We learned a song, and dedicated it to our Moms. Thank you all for what you do, and I hope you have an amazing Mother's Day.

May!

Wow! What a week... We are tying up loose ends at school, as things are quickly coming to an end. Enjoy some random pictures and check the calendar for important things coming up. Have an awesome weekend-stay dry!
