Welcome to My Blog!

Being a teacher is full of ups, downs, and in betweens. I love the look on a students face when they learn how to read. I love when students can solve problems on their own. I absolutely love when students feel proud of their work, and want to share it with the class. This blog is going to be full of moments in the classroom, pictures, and sometimes videos. Take everything with a grain of salt, as it is my opinion & reflections.

QR Codes for Research

The students used these three QR codes to gather research on the 1780's-1800's. They were guided through a web quest series of what life was like during those times.

Flag Display

We visited the Flag Display and learned about the different types of flags throughout history in America.
I had the kids take photos using their iPads.

Hispanic Heritage Month

We had a fabulous month becoming educated on Hispanic Heritage. We ended it with a 'fiesta.' We did all of our assessments in the morning and then had some fun in the afternoon. We showcased our projects on our various countries. Then, we Skyped three Hispanic people who have had great influence in our world. Finally we worked collaboratively as mini-groups to create our very own versions of homemade salsa. The students had to visit each ingredient station, then revist a specific station if needed. They had to write down each specific ingredient and then creatively name their salsa. We called judges in from the school to judge. It was a great day!
