Welcome to My Blog!

Being a teacher is full of ups, downs, and in betweens. I love the look on a students face when they learn how to read. I love when students can solve problems on their own. I absolutely love when students feel proud of their work, and want to share it with the class. This blog is going to be full of moments in the classroom, pictures, and sometimes videos. Take everything with a grain of salt, as it is my opinion & reflections.

Skype & Lincoln

We had an awesome Skype last week with a meteorologist from the news. It was awesome, and incredibly informative. Leigh Spann even took us on a tour around the studio. The kids were able to ask questions, and connect with what she was saying. It was fascinating, even for us, adults!

We also learned about Abraham Lincoln, and how to ask questions while reading an informative stories.

2 Half Days, Fall Craft & Questioning

We had a great week, considering it was shortened and fast-paced. I love each and every little one in my class so much, and upon finishing all parent conferences have learned how much each student has already grown. It makes my heart smile. I do a "caught ya" (doing awesome when they don' think I am watching) ticket drawing everyday, and then a big drawing on Thursday. This week I drew a name for the big drawing, and the reward she chose was to pick our Fun Friday activity. In honor of Fall, she chose a beautiful Q-tip paint project, combined with a Fall writing activity. I just LOVE the way they turned out! AWESOME!

Guest Reader with a Suit & Tie!

Today we had a guest reader, who is a great friend of mine, and Mr. Ramirez, and son of a teacher at our school.  He was stopping by to visit his mom, and was kind enough to pop in and read us a story. The students loved his attire, and were excited that he was wearing a suit and tie! We had a great discussion about attire, and then he read us a book about a silly Grandma and Grandpa doing all sorts of comical things. After he read the book, the students of room 105 interviewed him, asking him many questions ranging from jobs, to favorite store. We were so excited for some spur of the moment entertainment for my 2nd graders- it was more than appreciated!

Camp-In

We camped in the classroom today! We told flashlight stories, shadow stories, and ate s'mores and hotdogs! We also went on a trail nature walk, and completed a scavenger hunt. Enjoy the photos!
