Fun-Filled Week

We had an amazing week! I feel blessed to have such smart and sweet individuals in this class, striving to do their very best. I love them to pieces. We also had an awesome Mystery Reader on Thursday, And some of the firsties were blessed to
Have her has a teacher last year- so they were totally excited to have her as a reader!

The weekly vocabulary will remain the same next week, since these words were very tricky. Also, if you're wondering where the tests are from last week, I have them hanging in the hallway- as they totally blew me away! From time to time, I will hang their amazing work in the hallway, so don't be alarmed if you don't get every test home right away. If you are ever concerned with your child's grade in a subject, shoot me an email and I will email you their progress report. Thank you, and enjoy your long weekend with your firstie!

New Years Special 2013

 

First we conducted interviews with a partner, asking them 6 questions. Then we practiced holding a camera, and asking and answering the questions with confidence and courage! Then we recorded each other. Last year when I did this with the kiddoes, their parents absolutely adored them, and it's a true keepsake. It was so cool! I adore these ALMOST 2nd graders! Hope you enjoy!

 

This week has been a blast, getting back into the routines. Next weeks vocabulary words are tricky, so please study them with your child. Also, please see below for some evidence-based learning. I will do my best to have the first graders document some of the charts we do with the kids, throughout the week.

End of the Week Reflections & Fun!

September 15th- October 15th is Hispanic Heritage Month, and we do A LOT of things to get educated! I have created power points for the kids to learn about various Hispanic countries, we create crafts in honor of the countries customs. We do many things, including learning to Salsa dance, to say things in various Spanish dialects. This is such a a fun and educational month! I hope you enjoy all to come! (Today we made corn mosaics, to represent an ancient form of art that the Aztecs used) *Ask your child where the Aztecs used to live.*

Also, being tomorrow is the 1st day of Fall, a wonderful parent sent in a treat for us to make. Her daughter went over the directions step by step, and boy were these little acorns YUMMY!
I also attached some pictures of our charts we have made in class! We do at least 2 charts a day- and the kids pretty much run the show! I gracefully hand the marker to them, and allow them to answer a question, solve a problem, or write a connection- because I believe writing their thoughts and displaying the charts as a reference is a great tool for success!
