All the students in Mrs. Ramirez's class are pumped for the
fourth annual Skype event! Everyone has been tediously preparing for the
highlight of the year. We've made a large map showing all the places we skype,
and we've marked the floor for the seats. A total of 80 fifth-graders can fit
comfortably in the room. We've been making sure everything is in order so the
event will be perfect. We absolutely can't wait to visit the world via Skype.

Loving Genius Hour
I'm loving Genius Hour! Their projects are coming along so beautifully. Research shows that by utilizing the creative side of students brain and allowing choice and student voice in the day to day flows over in the everyday expectations. Couldn't agree more! From building websites, creating video tutorials, planning canned food drives, to creative designing (and so much more)- their passion projects inspire me. I highly recommend it to any teacher- if you're interested message me. Examples of some projects below:

Student Teachers
Absolutely love when my students are
confident enough to come up and be student teachers with their class.

Happy Birthday Eiffel Tower
To start our day today we used QR codes to scan and learn about the Eiffel Tower. We took notes on facts, and then discussed the most interesting facts with the class. (I did my best to sketch an Eifell Tower, and we took class notes.) Then we went on a virtual tour of the Eiffel Tower- to the first platform and the second platform. We calculated how old the Eifell Tower actually is today (126!) and compared it to various structures in the USA. We also looked up the weather and converged their Celsius degree to Fahrenheight. It was informative and interesting.
