Welcome to My Blog!

Being a teacher is full of ups, downs, and in betweens. I love the look on a students face when they learn how to read. I love when students can solve problems on their own. I absolutely love when students feel proud of their work, and want to share it with the class. This blog is going to be full of moments in the classroom, pictures, and sometimes videos. Take everything with a grain of salt, as it is my opinion & reflections.

Chinese Alligator vs. American Alligator

Oh me oh my! We learned all about the Chinese alligator this morning, and compared it to the American Alligator. We were 100% surprised.

Read this interesting article: Chinese Alligators Get Moved for Winter

Then to make a real connection I had three students line up to represent an American Alligator, and then my 5-footed self represented a Chinese Alligator. In China, the endangered species is moved in a truck, and stored in a warm spot for the duration of the winter. The students journaled about this new found knowledge, and discussed why the mode which the workers in China transport their Alligators wouldn't work with American Alligators. Loved this lesson!

I Have a Dream...

...

What a Brrr-illiant Week!

I love my time with the kiddoes! We learned sequence, and various "order" skills. We also began an interactive timeline of the life of Dr. Martin Luther King. On top of everything, it was Literacy Week so we had different themed days! We even were lucky enough to have an awesome guest reader. (Thanks Mr. Howard)
