Hello Seconds! Good morning, or good afternoon. I hope you are having a fabulous summer vacation! So far, Bandito has been pretty well behaved...(thank goodness!) I have been busy with school, trainings, and photography. I am also planning on going to the beach sometime this summer, and taking a little trip to Boston, Massachusetts! I hope you are going to the library, and reading a lot this summer...so you can come in to 2nd grade ready to conquer and do amazing things!
*Parents you can have your child do this all in one day (which is A LOT)-- or you can stretch it through out the week*
*Set your page up with your name and date on the right hand side of your paper*
1. Say our Daily Poem:
I am a kind, smart, and wonderful person.
I am a loving, thoughtful, almost 2nd grader.
I am going to do awesome things with my life.
I am a rockstar.
I am...

4. Get out a notebook, and write or type three sentences. Pick three different words from the list of words above. I want the sentences to be strong, and detailed.
5. After you have written the sentences, practice reading them in a funny voice or like you are putting on a show.
6. Solve these Math problems, and show your work using the CUBES method:
Circle your numbers, Underline the clue words that tell you if you're adding or subtracting, Box any math words, Examine the problem before you solve, Solve away! You can do it!
A) I have seen so many things outside lately! This morning I saw twelve birds in my front yard. A car drove by and all but 4 flew away. How many birds flew away? How many birds are left over?
B) Your 7 friends all have two eyeballs. How many eyeballs do they have altogether? (Hint, you will need to draw a quick sketch.)
C) On each slice of pizza there were 4 pieces of pepperoni. How many pieces of pepperoni are there on 3 slices?
7. Find one can of food in your house. What shape does this remind you of? What is something you can make with that can of food? How do you think you would make this food? List the steps you would need to take to make this.

8. Copy these sentences down with a pencil. After you have them all copied, take a pen or a marker and fix them. (Some of them are missing punctuation, capital letters, and some have spelling mistakes!)
a) i am no happy becuz i dont like pizza
b) yoo are no my friend becuz u dont eat hotdogs
c) mrs. ramirez takes care of bandit in the summer, so he iz very relaxed
9. Extra Challenge: When you are out and about with your family, I challenge you to find one sign in Spanish. Ask your Mom/Dad/Grandparent if you can take a picture of it. Look at the sign, or paper and look for the English words next to it, or around the store to try and figure out what the words mean.
Love,
Mrs. Ramirez
