Welcome to My Blog!

Being a teacher is full of ups, downs, and in betweens. I love the look on a students face when they learn how to read. I love when students can solve problems on their own. I absolutely love when students feel proud of their work, and want to share it with the class. This blog is going to be full of moments in the classroom, pictures, and sometimes videos. Take everything with a grain of salt, as it is my opinion & reflections.

Newsletter Week of 1/20/2012

It was a short week, but it was a jam-packed week! We crammed everything into 4 days.  We also had some fun with our “100” year old portraits!  We ALSO skyped a class from the UK!
Reading:
-We learned the /le/ sound
-We learned that when a short vowel is followed by only ONE consonant, you must double the consonant before adding the ending! (TRICKY STUFF!)
Math:
-We practiced skip-counting forward and backward to 100
-Please practice counting to 100 with your child
Writing:
-We have been writing, editing, and revising our “ALL ABOUT” books
-We are almost done with our “ALL ABOUT” books (They’re awesome!)
Announcements:
-Stop by for our Author’s Celebration on Friday1/27 at 12:20-1:45
-The Author’s Celebration is going to be in our class.
-The students will celebrate that they finished a published piece of writing by reading their story
-It’s not a big deal if you can’t make it– just give your child a big “Congratulations!”
