Putting Vocabulary In Action!
We welcomed two high school soccer players to our classroom, and they taught us how to play soccer! We had so much fun, and we even had cheerleaders cheering us on! We had a lot of fun, and the kids were totally excited to meet real-life soccer players. (One of them happened to be my brother, and his bestfriend!)

Randomness from Last Week
A few of the adorable firsties really went ALL out for the 100th day, so I sent them to the morning show to show off their festive outfits! Enjoy a few of the pictures:
Also we were very lucky to have Mrs. Fehrenbach our school TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment) come and be our mystery reader on Thursday! She read a fun and adorable book that she explained her personal connection to. Our students loved her, and loved the story.

Another fun part of the week was when my brother, who is in high school sent us a little video talking about the importance of preparation, and he compared it to preparing for his big soccer game, and how preparing can truly benefit the outcome. (When he sent the video, it sent sideways, but the kiddoes still got the message!) We are excited for our next little encouraging video!
Lastly, I had a student write a story about Martin Luther King, type it up, and then practice reading it. He did such a great job that I sent him to the morning show to read it to the whole school. Enjoy it!

100th Day of School- WAHOO!
What a day! We learned about history 100 years ago in 1913. When we told the kids that we were born in the 1980's they couldn't believe it...and they looked at us LIKE WE WERE 100! We did self-portraits of ourselves at 100, and we compared and contrasted life 100 years ago. Check out the nifty shirts and bracelets some students made to celebrate our 100th day of school! Love these kids!

Fun-Filled Week
We had an amazing week! I feel blessed to have such smart and sweet individuals in this class, striving to do their very best. I love them to pieces. We also had an awesome Mystery Reader on Thursday, And some of the firsties were blessed to
Have her has a teacher last year- so they were totally excited to have her as a reader!
Please see the newsletter for specific class announcements/reflections- and remember there is NO SCHOOL on Monday 1/21.
The weekly vocabulary will remain the same next week, since these words were very tricky. Also, if you're wondering where the tests are from last week, I have them hanging in the hallway- as they totally blew me away! From time to time, I will hang their amazing work in the hallway, so don't be alarmed if you don't get every test home right away. If you are ever concerned with your child's grade in a subject, shoot me an email and I will email you their progress report. Thank you, and enjoy your long weekend with your firstie!
I had a student make an audio recording:

And I had a student send me an email:
